Since 1996 we have provided an opt-in directory for commercial websites. In exchange for a link to aco.ca we linked to thousands of sites in Atlantic Canada and around the world in our International section.

Things evolved and Google ultimately became the dominant 'how to' voice when it comes to link building. While directory links still have a nominal page rank value in Google's algorithm, simple reciprocal links are no longer helpful.

Relevant links from sites whose visitors might be interested in, or have some affinity to your content have become important. Finding the 'right' link partners and getting your links properly installed on their sites has become an industry.

As part of our migration of aco.ca into the open source environment we are establishing a Link Co-op. Soon with your link to aco.ca plus a $50 annual fee you can join the aco.ca Link Co-op and work with hundreds of sites all looking to increase the number and value of their own inbound links.

We are working with a Joomla! developer specialising in directory applications to build the required extensions for this unique service. We expect to launch the Co-op in the next few weeks.
